GOVERNING STUPIDITY: HOW DARWINISM IS LOSING

I know you've received those emails about how things were back when we were young. We didn't wear seat belts or bike helmets, we run around the neighborhood all night, we climbed trees and ate random Halloween Candy - ya know - lived life on the edge!

Now, kids can't go ten feet without being strapped in, padded or topped with some form of armor. The government has rules regarding your safety, your children's safety, your pet's safety, how often to water your house plants...

And to make matters worse, all of the idiots in the world - the ones lacking common sense of any type - have now created reasons for the government to put warnings on just about everything you can taste, smell or touch.

Yes! COFFEE is HOT!

No! Children should NOT put plastic bags on their HEADS!

Yes! Gravity makes all objects FALL!

Yes! Bush is an IDIOT! Oops, but I digress...

Anyhow, I have a theory about all of these safety mechanisms that the government has put into place to protect us.

They have governed stupidity. All of the idiots that would have killed themselves because, well, they are idiots are now still alive.

You know the guy - he lives down the street - shouldn't have probably been killed in some sort of shaving while water skiing accident. He's still alive thanks to government regulations. And annoying you. And he has a freezer in his front yard as a lawn ornament (with the door safely removed - of course.)

And worse yet - voting. These people are allowed to VOTE!

And they keep electing all of the stupid politicians that are in office right now.

All because they can't tell that the coffee is hot.

Darwin is turning over in his grave right now...

To those who are unfamiliar with CAAWS,

CAAWS is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization. Those of you who are familiar with all-volunteer groups will understand the challenges they encounter. They receive funding from donations and fund raisers, 100% of which supports their animal efforts, no administrative expenses. Feel free to visit their website, www.caaws.org .

In addition to the animal efforts in the Baton Rouge area, CAAWS supports legislation that affects our state and the nation, such as the anti-cockfighting bill & pet evacuation bill, and has assisted in Katrina animal relief efforts, continuing today to provide pet food funding for my food/water stations in 9th Ward New Orleans.
